Muscle memory

It's a phenomenon that many music players experience. .. muscle memory is truly fascinating ! It's when your hands just go on "auto pilot" when you have not played a piece in a while and you sit on the piano and suddenly your fingers just ... start playing the music! . . . Without any interaction from your mind at all! It's like a beautiful present that the piano gives to you 😀 But seriously, what happens is kind of similar to when you have not driven your car for a while (if you drive) and you start driving and that auto pilot muscle memory takes over... your hands and feet know what to do ... or when you are eating or drinking, you don't think about every tiny movement... it just happens...

Practice time tips

1. Setting a specific time for practice

If you leave it up to chance or mood, it will never be enough to progress... set 2 or 3 (or 5!) days in the week and time of the day that you set the phone reminder to remind you to practice even for only 10 min. For example: Monday and Thursday at 8 pm.

2. Making a practice routine

Start off with simple exercises (maybe CDEFG or 5 finger exercises) to warm up. Then do the class workout exercises. After that, practice the required songs.

3. Not having enough "fuel" 😀

And by fuel I mean food and drink. Piano takes a lot of energy, so be well-rested and well-fed for full focus during practice time.

Correct Sitting Posture

Avoid long term injuries related to music by sitting in the correct posture while playing the piano

Do This

Elbows: 90 degree angle
Knees: 90 degree angle
Feet: Flat on the floor
Shoulders: Relaxed down
Back: Straight!
Hands: In line with elbows
Fingers: Curved, as if holding an orange

Not This!

Elbows: Bent too much
Knees: Not 90 degrees
Feet: Lifted or on tiptoes
Shoulders: Tight and pulled up
Back: Curved... that's the worst one!
Hands: Over elbow line
Hands: Flat on the piano

Choosing your instrument

So you need to buy a piano for your daily practice but you don't want to overspend and break your budget... there are some good options that are budget friendly to choose from: P.s. this post is not sponsored... just sharing with you my piano experience My first recommendation for people who are just starting ( adults and kids) is The Keyboard (الارج) ... this is the cheapest and fastest way to jumpstart into piano. Preferably 5 octave one (or 61 keys) and even better if it has a "touch response" option! (That means the sound gets louder as you press with more force on keys) You dont need the 1000000 buttons and options on the keyboard (they are just for fun) ... so something like these would be great as a start ! Prices in Egypt range from (700 - 4000l.e.)

Good options:

You don’t need a million buttons and options on the keyboard (they are just for fun)… so something like these would be great as a start! Prices in Egypt for a keyboard (top) range from (700 – 4000 L.E.), and for an electric piano (bottom) range from (5000 – 15000 L.E.).
